Overview
Somalia's MSMEs have historically lacked a unified institutional voice in policy spaces. Laws have been drafted without MSME input. Tax frameworks have been designed around large enterprises. Trade policy has focused on macro-level flows rather than the realities of small business cross-border trade. SOMSMEC changes that.
We participate in legislative consultations, submit formal policy recommendations to the Federal Government and Federal Member State governments, and represent Somali MSMEs in EAC Business Council and African Union private sector forums.
